UNFPA Trains Adamawa Health Workers
According to Dr. Danladi Idrisa, the UN Population Fund’s (UNFPA) Programme Officer, the Fund has trained over 300 Adamawa health workers in various capacities.
On Sunday, he informed newsmen in Yola that some of the areas of the training include maternal health during emergencies and clinical management of rape and sexual reproductive issues.
“We also supported the Nursing School in the area of capacity building, knowledge sharing and so many things.

“We renovated health facilities in some local governments and more than 14 health outlets received sexual reproductive commodities, which we shared through the Red Cross.
“We ensure that women have access to maternal healthcare and family planning services. The effort is to reduce the rate of maternal mortality.”
He stated that the maternal mortality rate in Nigeria is a big issue as more than 275 women die daily due to pregnancy-related issues, which is becoming alarming and in the North-East is even increasing.
