PharmaCentre Is Launched To Improve Access To Drugs, Medical Supplies

Wellness Medical Distribution launched its online integrative marketplace for pharmaceutical products over the weekend, Pharmacentre, to boost access to quality drugs and facilitate medical supplies in Nigeria. Pharmacentre is a digital platform that enables licensed medical professionals to sell quality medical products to businesses and consumers alike.

Pharmacentre integrates consumer-facing (business-to-consumer selling) and provider-facing (business-to-business selling) models. Pharmacentre’s interactive platform will allow consumers and businesses to shop online for pharmaceutical products from different licensed pharma merchants, as well as serve as a link between consumers and physical pharmacies.

Mrs. Adetutu Afolabi, the firm’s Group MD/CEO, while she spoke during the unveiling in Lagos, submitted that over 253,000 deaths occured yearly in the country due to insufficient access to quality healthcare. She stated that while a good number of these casualties came from inadequate health systems, others stemmed from little or no access to medicines.

“Since the COVID-19 pandemic, major disruptions have visited pharmacy markets globally, but through the power of technology and online commerce, we want to facilitate easier and safer access to drugs for all. As such, getting medicines online affords consumers the benefit of quick, easy, convenient and private access to medical needs, with the click of a mouse. Nobody should be left stranded because they do not have a pharmacist in their network.”
