Maternal Mortality: Kano Govt. Increases Health Allocation to 100m for Safe Motherhood
HEALTHDIGEST- Kano State Government says it has increased the state’s budgetary allocation to health toward checking maternal mortality to save the lives of women and children.
In its effort to prioritize the health of citizens and women in particular, thus the state Government increased the state’s budgetary allocation to health and to maternal mortality programmes.

The State’s Commissioner for Health, Dr Aminu Tsanyawa, made this known at a news conference to commemorate the 2022 National Safe Motherhood Day which Is a global initiative annually marked on April 11 to raise awareness about adequate access to care during pregnancy, child birth and post natal services.
The theme of the 2022 celebration is “Access to Quality Maternal Care, a Right for Every Pregnant Woman” and the slogan for the year “Save Mother, Save the Future.”
According to him, the state government increased its annual budgetary allocation for Maternal and Child Health Services from N20 million in 2015 to N100 million in 2022.
He added that the state also invested in training of 1,130 female community volunteers to strengthen its commitment to women’s health.
The commissioner also said, 220 focal persons had community engagements to promote Maternal and Child Health services.
