WHO Increases Disease Sensitization In Yobe Communities
The World Health Organisation (WHO) has pledged to give its support to the Yobe State Government in order to sensitise the public on the risks that are associated with cholera and other contagious diseases.
The State Coordinator, Nuhu Barau-Ningi disclosed this in Damaturu while speaking with Health Champions who were engaged to carry house-to-house cholera sensitization to Almajiri schools and other prone areas in the state.
The State Coordinator further explained that 34 health champions, two from each local government area have been engaged in the exercise that have been extended to 90 days so as to reach all nooks and crannies of vulnerable communities in the state.

Barau also revealed the effort was aimed at supporting the government to provide precautionary measures against the cholera disease, which was why it visited Babban Tsangaya, a non-formal Almajiri school as well as the vulnerable communities in the Damaturu metropolis for sensitization.
The Yobe State Government through its Primary Healthcare Management Board had earlier revealed over 70 persons have died of watery diarrhea in the last 6 months.
He urged the traditional and religious leaders as well as the general public to accord the volunteers maximum cooperation in order to get rid of cholera in their communities.
