Under-reported Health Issues: NPHCDA to Partner with Health Digest
The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) has agreed to strike a strategic partnership with Health Digest, Nigeria’s fastest-growing health-based online medium, published by Image Merchants Promotion Limited (IMPR).
The NPHCDA Executive Secretary, Dr. Faisal Shuaib, who lamented the fact that health issues are under-reported in the country, said the partnership with Health Digest would help bridge the reporting gap and also boost the agency’s advocacy for national primary healthcare development.
He added that the partnership will also help amplify health-related issues, developments, and emergencies in the country.
Dr. Shuaib spoke about the partnership on Friday during a courtesy visit paid to his office in Abuja by the Health Digest team, led by IMPR CEO, Mr. Yushau Shuaib.
The NPHCDA boss expressed worry over how under-reported health issues pose great danger to the state of public health in Nigeria.
“We need you the media to amplify these underreported health issues in Nigeria to help us in our advocacy for national primary health care development.

“The media needs to offer wider news coverage of the health care services towards identifying key enablers and barriers to more preventative health care services in Nigeria. They pose a great challenge to the state of our public health,” he said.
In his earlier remarks, the IMPR boss said Health Digest was willing to anchor fresh perspectives in healthcare reporting that will emphasise the life-saving advocacies of the federal government as represented by the NPHCDA.
He also commended the NPHCDA boss for his remarkable efforts in shaping the primary healthcare sub-sector in the country since his appointment.
“It is important to mention your evident achievements in the development of Nigeria’s Health sector especially during the Covid-19 pandemic era, and to equally commend you on how you have been able to swiftly stimulate the progress and development of national primary health care in Nigeria.
“In this regard, the Health Digest media platform is willing to provide a lasting solution to some of the major problems in the sector by improving the coverage of underreported health issues across Nigeria.
“We seek this partnership with the NPHCDA with a view to helping to stimulate the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 3),” he said.
Yushau Shuaib later presented recent books authored by IMPR Staff and published by PRNigeria to the NPHCDA Chief.
