Rotary Club Promises To Help Nigeria Improve Blood Donation

Goddy Nnadi, the newly elected district governor, Rotary International District 9125, has stated that the Rotary Club is committed to assisting Nigeria’s drive in improving blood donation among its citizens.

As he addressed newsmen during the weekend in Abuja, Nnadi stated that the Rotary intends to work with the National Blood Bank to expand the blood bank system in the country.

“We intend to work with the National Blood Bank to expand the blood bank system in Nigeria so that we can have the hospitals helped by blood available to them especially for accident victims.”

He explained that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been developed through which Rotary would work with the National Blood Bank “first of all to make our members donate blood and then create awareness for more people to donate blood.”

“The blood will be certified okay, stored and made available for hospitals to use so that we don’t have recurring cases of hospitals not having blood.”

Nnadi also stated that his district would also collaborate with foreign institutions in order to tackle mental health challenges in the country.

“If someone with a mental health problem isn’t treated early, it becomes an issue for the society or for families, so we are going to create awareness about that.”
