Project 10 million Campaign: Kano Residents Urged to Screen for Hypertension, Diabetes
As Project 10 million Campaign commenced across the country, Kano State residents have been urged to seize the opportunity and come out en masse to screen for hypertension and diabetes.
The project is an initiative of Nigeria Health Commissioners Forum aims to through an ambitious national campaign screen and treat 10 million Nigerians across the 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, within a designated week.
Kano residents were urged to utilise the opportunity by the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf on Monday while leading commencement of the exercise at the state’s Drugs and Medical Consumables Supply Agency (DMCSA) premises.

“The objectives of the project is, to among other things, screen 10 millions Nigerians for hypertension and diabetes, link all new cases for confirmation and treatment, provide short-term drug refills based on available regimen, increase public awareness and knowledge, encourage healthier lifestyles through education on diet, exercise, smoking cessation, etc.
“It is a giant project that would gulf almost N800 millions. So, people, from 20 years and above, need to make best use of the opportunity to get screened of these killer diseases. Those found with one or all of the diseases need not panic, but rather thank the Almighty for the identification of ailment hidden in their body so that they seek remedy,” the commissioner said.
Dr. Labaran commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for showing concern on the health of people of the state at all times, lauding the partners and other stakeholders for supporting the project in one way or the other.
