PCN Destroys Expired Drugs Worth N100m In Adamawa
Tonnes of expired drugs worth over N100 million which were confiscated have been destroyed by the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) in Adamawa State.
The PCN explained on Monday that the expired drugs were mopped up from various pharmaceutical and patent medicine stores across the state.
The destruction of the drugs which was done at the outskirts of Yola called Conerwire, along the Yola-Numan Road, was supervised by a representative of the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Iya Aminu Abbas.
The Deputy Speaker, Pwamakino Mankendo, who stood in the stead of Abbas, commended the Adamawa State chapter of the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria for not allowing the expired drugs get into the market.

“If these drugs get to the end users, it will not only affect the health of our people but also increase the insecurity currently being faced in the state,” the Speaker said.
Also speaking during the destruction exercise, the Commander of the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Adamawa State, Femi Agbolu, said it was great that the drugs were identified and mopped up.
Emphasising that every negative action is influenced by hard drugs, the NDLEA Commander said every effort must always be made by all groups, agencies and individuals concerned to rid society of unwholesome drugs.
Earlier, the state Chairman of the PCN, Ibrahim Talba said the drugs were seized from across the state as part of efforts to get rid of expired and fake drugs.
