Nigerians Urged To Embrace Cleanliness
Oyebola Adeyanju, the President of the Rotary Club of Dolphin Estate, is urging Nigerians to cultivate the habit of cleanliness without waiting for the government’s regulatory body to tell them what to do.
She said this would go a long way towards combating health hazards and nip in the bud the problem of flooding.
Oyebola gave her comment during an environmental sanitation project with the theme: “The journey to good health start swith your surrounding”, carried out at Dolphin Estate by the Rotary Club of Dolphin Estate in collaboration with Dolphin Estate Association.
“Today, we are carrying out cleaning exercise within Dolphin Estate community as well as sensitising the residents of the existence of our club in the Estate. We are getting rid of organic wastes in front of houses within the Estate, which include debris, plastics, dry leaves, among others.

“The club, through this exercise is showcasing what we do best through our lending helping hands to tidy up the environment and to also inculcate in the people the need to often clear their wastes and avoid the ripple effects of abandoning them.
“The project is in collaboration with the Dolphin Estate Association executives who are instrumental to getting trucks from Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) for us, while the club paid for their services. We appreciate the Committee Chair for Environment, Dolphin Estate, Mrs. Solape Adefala for her unforgettable contributions in the project”, she said.
Adeyanju noted that the club planned to get three trucks to clear the debris but could only get two, which served as a set back in covering the entire estate.
Chairman, Dolphin Resident Association, Anthony Olusoga promised the estate’s collaboration with the club.
“We thank the club for the gesture and the pursuit to have clean environment in the Estate, the virtue that the residents would no doubt imbibe. I am impressed with their initiative and I promise to join the club as a sign that we really appreciate the club and hope to collaborate further in future,” he said.
