1,094 New COVID Cases Reported In China
On Wednesday, the National Health Commission said that Mainland China reported 1,094 new coronavirus cases on the 9th of August, of which 444 were symptomatic and 650 were asymptomatic.
This is compared with 939 new cases from the day previous, made up of 399 symptomatic and 540 asymptomatic infections. China counts the symptomatic and asymptomatic cases separately.

As of the 9th of August, mainland China had confirmed that there were 232,109 cases with symptoms.
Local government data showed that China’s capital, Beijing, and its financial hub, Shanghai, had reported zero new cases. The southern technology hub of Shenzhen had also recorded no new infections.
Hainan island is, however, battling an outbreak and reported 1,314 symptomatic and 585 asymptomatic cases between the 1st and the 9th of August.
