Nasarawa PDP Gubers Candidate Pushes for Adequate Health Financing
The Governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Nasarawa State, Hon. David Ombugadu has called for a collaborative effort to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC) for health care delivery in Nigeria.
Hon. David spoke at a retreat organised by the African Health Budget Network, AHBN in Abuja.
The retreat reviewed the country’s Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, Adolescent Health and Nutrition- (RMNCAH+N), Recovery Plan Scorecard & Validate the Family Planning (FP), 2030 Accountability Motion Tracker Template.
The governorship candidate noted that the Civil Society organisations, CSOs, should not relent in pushing for political actions for the release of 2021 $4 million budgetary allocation approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) for the procurement of family planning commodities.

In his opening remark, the Coordinator of AHBN, Dr. Amunu Magashi noted the presence of the governorship candidate will further provide awareness for strengthening civil society partnerships with the government in improving COVID-19 vaccination and health security in Nigeria.
He said: we understand that this is the era of political activities. Most political actors will be busy with political functions but we will still keep on reminding them of what they were elected for while they are working on their next political ambition.
“The scorecard is based on three categories; governance and leadership, budgetary allocation and disbursement; as well as accountability and transparency.
Earlier, the Chairman, National Advocates for Health (NA4H), Mohammed Usman, who spoke on behalf of the CSOs said non-governmental organizations, should continue to strategies and deploy new advocacy mechanisms to get the message to political actors for the release of the budget.
The the meeting had the presence of National, state CSOs, Heroic Discovery and Community Development Center (HEDCODEC), YOSPIS, media and young people.
