MLSCN, Bloom Health Sign MoU To Strengthen Medical Labs

Bloom Public Health has joined with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) to sign a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen medical laboratory practices across public and private health facilities in the country.

Speaking during the exercise yesterday in Abuja, Registrar of MLSCN, Dr Tosan Erhabor, said the partnership would help transform the country’s health laboratory system.

He said the partnership promises to change the narrative of poor health indices in the country, discourage health tourism to other climes, and save the country the $ 2 billion reportedly spent annually by citizens in search of a qualitative diagnosis.

The registrar said the immediate focus of the partnership was to upscale the capacity of laboratories at the primary healthcare level.

“Pursuant to the MOU, the partnership will embark on the capacity building for medical laboratory professionals, particularly at the primary healthcare level, through joint training and educational Initiatives and this would guarantee a highly skilled workforce and pave way for continuous improvement in the field,” he said.

According to Prof Chimezie Anyakaora, the Chief Executive Officer of Bloom Public Health, diagnosis is a pillar in healthcare delivery adding that if it is not gotten right all other spectrum of the healthcare delivery would not be gotten right.
