Medical Women’s International reappoints President

An international non-governmental organisation comprising female doctors and dentists, the Medical Women’s International Association (MWIA), has reappointed Eleanor Nwadinobi as president of the association.

Founded in 1919 in New York, the association at its 32nd MWIA International Congress convened in Taipei, Taiwan from June 24 to June 26, 2022, approved the composition of its Executive Committee for the 2022-2025 Triennium, with Dr. Nwadinobi as President.

Dr. Nwadinobi unveiled the triennial theme for the 2022 / 2025 triennium with the theme: One humanity – health solutions through our partnerships. Having led the organisation from 2019, she will start her second three-year tenure as the association’s President.

Sharing her excitement, she said, “I am grateful to God. I am deeply humbled and feel elated to have this opportunity to serve our esteemed Association in the capacity of president.”

Some of her achievements in the association MWIA include offering medical women the opportunity to meet so as to confer upon questions concerning the health and well-being of humanity. Promoting the general interest of medical women by developing cooperation, friendship and understanding without regard to race, religion or political views.

On plans for the new tenure, she said, “health is wealth and health for one, is health for all. Herein, we anchor our efforts, to ensure that MWIA becomes the reference point for global health. We appreciate the health workforce and frontline responders, 70 per cent of who are women.

“As medical women, we are boldly recalibrating and repositioning for transformative impact. Partnerships for health solutions, therefore, constitute a global strategy highlighting the need for an approach that is holistic, collaborative and integrated. We will invest in strategic and integrated partnerships whilst advocating for health solutions that are innovative and contextualised for positive impact in each of our regions.”

Dr Nwadinobi is a renowned development practitioner and public speaker on health, women’s peace and security, prevention of violence against women and girls, and human rights.
