LBS, Nestlé task journalists on improved reportage on health, others

The Lagos Business School (LBS) and Nestlé Nigeria Ltd have tasked journalists on improved reportage on nutrition, health and environment. They made the call at the grand- finale of the 2022 Media Training for Journalists on Thursday in Lagos. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the training had the theme: “Advancing Nutrition Health and Environmental Awareness through the Media.”

Mr Wassim Elhusseini, the Managing Director, Nestlé Nigeria, lauded the journalists for their participation and tasked them on an improved reportage on solutions journalism. He welcomed all with great pleasure to the conclusion of the training exercise

“As an organisation we are mindful of protecting our environment for future generations. The training is organised to enhance the capacity of the media to play the lead role in awareness creation in nutrition, health and the environment. As we come face to face with the impacts of climate change, it is better we have all hands on deck to tackle its effects, “he said.

Continuing, the Nestlé boss said: “Your reports and stories can help to increase awareness about protecting the environment and how our actions can make a difference. We are delighted with the feedback we have received about how the training has helped to improve your journalism skills,” he said.

On his part, Prof Chris Ogbechie, the Dean of Lagos Business School, urged the media to be at the forefront in solutions journalism and awareness creation.

“This training is necessary because the media has the power to shape the future of writing. The media can tell compelling stories that will shape the way companies invest and run their businesses. Nestlé has invested in this programme to equip journalists in Advancing Nutrition Health and Environmental Awareness through the Media.

“This certification is a call for journalists to write stories that positively influence these areas,” Ogbechie said.

NAN reports that the high point of the programme was the presentation of certificates of attendance to the participants.
