As Kano continues to record more diphtheria cases, the state government says it is has deployed necessary mechanisms to curtail the disease, among them is the setting up of three treatment centres.
The state Commissioner of Health, Dr. Abubakar Yusuf, made the disclosure while giving an update on the outbreak of the diseases on Thursday.
He said a state such as Kano should not be battling with such an outbreak and blamed the development on the failure of the past administration to immunise the people.

Dr. Yusuf revealed that last Monday alone, over 130 people were admitted as the case continued to grow.
The commissioner, however, said that the governor had since directed the health ministry to swing into action to curtail the spread of the deadly disease, adding that three designated centres have been provided for treatment and admission.
He, however, called on the public not to hesitate to seek medical assistance anytime they experience any of the symptoms as listed by the NCDC.
