Kaduna State Seeks EU Support to Boost Solar Power in Hospitals
Kaduna State government has appealed to the European Union (EU) for support in providing solar panels to enhance solar power supply to its hospitals and healthcare centers. Idris Aminu-Idris, Managing Director of Kaduna Power Supply Company (KAPSCO), made the request during the inauguration of the EU-funded Nigeria Solar for Health (NSHIP) project in Abuja.

Aminu-Idris highlighted the state government’s efforts in maintaining off-grid power supply to 10 general hospitals and 209 primary healthcare centers, with plans to expand to major hospitals, including Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital, Gambo Sawaba General Hospital, and Patrick Yakowa Hospital.
The EU-funded project aims to provide reliable green electricity to public healthcare facilities, reducing CO2 emissions and promoting clean energy transition in Nigeria. The state government has established synergy among relevant ministries to ensure effective implementation of the project.
The partnership seeks to deploy cleaner energy systems, aligning with Nigeria’s goal of achieving net zero emissions across states. The EU support will significantly enhance solar power supply in Kaduna State’s healthcare sector.
