IFA Seeks Full Implementation Of PWDs Act
Inclusive Friends Association (IFA), an organisation promoting rights of Persons With Disabilities (PWDs), has called on government and the private sector to prioritise the implementation of the Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities Act.
The Act prohibits all forms of discrimination against PWDs and promotes their rights and privileges in accessing employment, education, health care, accommodation and emergencies, among others.
Executive Director, IFA, Grace Jerry, said that the full implementation of the Act would tackle the numerous challenges faced by PWDs.
Jerry said although the Act was enacted in 2018, it was yet to yield significant gains for PWDs.
“With regards to the implementation of the disabilities Act, I would say that we are not there yet and we are not satisfied yet.

Also, Mr Agbo Christian, Executive Director, The Qualitative Magazine, said the disability law was a milestone for PWDs and advocacy groups.

Ojo said this was to highlight key elements and educate Nigerians on the Act.
