HTC Urges Next Govt To Create Better Healthcare Policies
The Healthcare Transformation Coalition (HTC) has tasked the incoming government to create implementable policies that will transform the country’s healthcare sector.
A former commissioner for health, Lagos State, and HTC convener, Dr. Jide Idris, at the coalition’s symposium in Abuja, said the coalition was formed because a new government is coming and healthcare professionals need to be involved in setting the agenda.
“And we saw that over the years, healthcare professionals have always reacted to health policies, the government sets policies then we start reacting, we feel this time around, we should be involved in setting the health agenda.

“We cannot get a good health sector if we cannot get the politics, this is essentially why this symposium was organised as one of many activities to mobilise all health workers, friends, and colleagues in getting very political, we all have our candidates,” he said.
He said the coalition consists of the various disciplines and cadres of healthcare professionals in the public and private sectors, drawn from across the 36 states (and the FCT) and the diaspora.
Idris said the coalition aims to ensure that the healthcare system in the country is repositioned for efficiency and sustainability by proactively contributing towards the development of health policies and implementation strategies for the new administration in 2023.
