Healthcare Stakeholders Urge Gov. Abiodun to Do More
Stakeholders in Ogun State’s healthcare sector are calling on Governor Dapo Abiodun to improve his administration’s policies and programs in the sector. While acknowledging some efforts made by the government, they say more needs to be done to address the numerous challenges facing the sector.

The Chairman of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) in Ogun, Kunle Ashimi, expressed concerns about the inadequate measures taken so far, particularly in addressing the severe manpower shortage in health facilities. He urged the government to implement the revised CONMESS salary structure to attract and retain doctors.
The Commissioner for Health, Tomi Coker, highlighted the government’s efforts in renovating primary healthcare facilities, launching insurance schemes, and investing in electronic medical records. However, patients and healthcare workers noted that more needs to be done to improve the database technology system, address manpower shortages, and ensure prompt access to medical treatment.
The stakeholders’ call for improved healthcare services comes as the government celebrates its second year in office, with promises to continue revitalizing the health sector.
