Healthcare Providers Urge NAFDAC to Reduce GMP Certificate Costs

The Healthcare Equipment and Allied Equipment Products Providers of Nigeria (HEPAN) has called on the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to lower the cost of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certificates for medical devices.

HEPAN praised President Bola Tinubu for signing an executive order to boost local production of medical and healthcare products. The order aims to increase domestic manufacturing of pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, devices, and other healthcare essentials.

The association welcomed the move, citing its potential to reduce medical service costs and create jobs. HEPAN’s National President, Dr. Ifeanyi Nwankwo, said the order would benefit Nigerians, particularly during a time of high inflation.

HEPAN also commended Health Minister Prof. Muhammad Pate for facilitating the signing of the decree. Board Chairman Mustapha Falaki emphasized the need for industry stakeholders to support the policy’s implementation.
