Nigerian Institute of Medical Research (NIMR): The NIMR was established through the National Science and Technology Act of 1977 but was renamed the National Institute of Medical Research by the Medical Research Council of Nigeria. The name was later changed in 1993 to the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research.

National Population Commission: The National Population Commission was created by the federal government in 1988. This commission has the statutory authority to collect, analyse and disseminate demographic data in Nigeria. National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS): The NHIS is a corporate body that was established under Act 35 of the 1999 constitution by the Federal Government of Nigeria for the improvement of the health of all Nigerians at an affordable cost. The purpose of the NHIS is to provide health insurance in Nigeria as the healthcare services of contributors are paid from the common pool pf funds that are contributed by the scheme’s participants. The NHIS also regulates Health Management Organisations (HMOs).
