27 Health Budgets, RMNCH Scorecards Created By Coalition In Bauchi State
It has been said by the Bauchi State Accountability Mechanism For Maternal, Newborn, Child Adolescent Health (BaSAM), an NGO, that it has developed, disseminated and validated 27 scorecards for the enhancement of healthcare service delivery in the state.
It has been reported by the News Agency of Nigeria that the BaSAM is being implemented through the Evidence for Action (E4A)-Mamaye project from 2014 to 2022 in Bauchi State. It is a State Led Accountability Mechanism that uses data as evidence to advocate for an improved health system.
Mr. Abu John, the Co -Chair of the Coalition, had stated this during the close out meeting of E4A-Mamaye Project, on Tuesday in Bauchi.
According to him, the project had successfully developed, validated and disseminated nine State Health Budgets, nine Health Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health (RMNCH+N) scorecards since the programme’s inception.

He had also listed other scorecards to include five MPDSR, two Basic Healthcare Provision Fund and two COVID-19 facility preparedness assessment.
Mr. John said that the project had also contributed to the adoption of a 15 per cent budgetary allocation to health sector, which was in line with the 2014 Abuja Declaration, as well as the allocation of budget line items for Family Planning and Nutrition.
Ms. Easther Agbon, the Country Lead, E4A- Mamaye Project, said that the project, which was being supported by Bill Gates Foundation, aimed at fostering a sense of trust between Civil Ssociety Organisations (CSOs), media and government officials.
She said that it had also strengthened the capacity of members in technical skills and the adaptation of COVID-19 preparedness and response.
Ms. Khadija Katagum, the State Coordinator, E4A-Mamaye Project, had commended the government and stakeholders’ commitment to take over ownership of the RMNCH initiative in the state.
According to NAN, the highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to the 10 members of the project for their outstanding performances.
