US Government Lauds Nigeria’s Feat on Covid-19 Vaccination
The United States government has said that Nigeria has recorded huge achievement in the COVID-19 vaccination, especially given the public’s high vaccine hesitancy and perception that the risk of contracting the disease was low.
US Ambassador to Nigeria, Mary Berth Leonard, stated during the celebration of COVID-19 vaccination milestone, yesterday, in Abuja.

She said at the earliest phase of the National COVID response, the US government partnered Nigerian public health experts and national leadership to navigate the storm and today, Nigeria has emerged from the eye of that storm and “is celebrating successes that have been achieved since the beginning of our vaccination efforts in March 2021.”
She said: “This unprecedented effort spearheaded by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) has resulted in the full vaccination of over 54 million Nigerians. The United States government in partnership with NPHCDA and the development partner group recognise the importance of that strong leadership and the power of leveraging financial, technical and logistic resources from our array of partners including at the state and community level.”
