International Nurses Day, observed on May 12, honors the birthdate of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. The day recognizes the vital importance of nurses in healthcare and expresses gratitude for their tireless efforts in caring for patients around the clock.
Akinola stressed that a robust nursing workforce is essential for enhancing patients’ outcomes and improving the overall health system in Nigeria. Investing in nurses’ health and wellbeing will attract and retain skilled, committed professionals, ultimately benefiting everyone.
