EKEDC Partners With Counselling Institute For Mental Health Awareness Week

The Eko Electric Distribution Company (EKEDC) is collaborating with the Institute of Counselling Nigeria for the 2023 Mental Health Awareness Week.

The collaboration is to promote mental health awareness and well-being among EKEDC’s employees and the public.

Driven by this understanding, EKEDC has recognised the importance of mental health and is committed to promoting it among employees and the community.

Mental Health Awareness Week is observed yearly, focusing on raising awareness and promoting mental well-being.

For this year, the organisation is examining anxiety and the impact of anxiety on people’s lives.

Experts say anxiety is a common mental health disorder that affects millions worldwide.

It manifests in panic attacks, social anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Despite its prevalence, anxiety is often stigmatised, and many suffer.

EKEDC, as championed by Executive Director, Dr. Tinuade Sanda, prioritises the mental health of employees and has been partnering with the institute for years.

Dr. Tolu Oko-Igaire, the Executive Director of the institute, expressing her excitement, stated: “We are delighted to partner with EKEDC to promote mental health awareness and wellbeing.
