Drug Abuse: NDLEA Celebrates Global Day On June 24
The 2022 United Nations International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking is to be celebrated by the Idiroko Special Area Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) from the 24th to the 28th of June, with the theme being, “Addressing drug challenges to health and humanitarian crises.”

The activities for the one-week-long event include football and other sports, a road walk, sensitisation rally, lectures and health talks. The grand finale of the event would feature cultural performances, paper presentations, recitations and awards.

The organisers stated the purpose of the event is to bring up drug issues to the limelight which is in line with the global agency’s tenets on drug abuse.
According to them, the targeted audience of the event comprises of secondary school pupils, non-faith and faith-based organisations, politicians, security officers and the public.
