Bauchi State Government Creates Budget Line for Immunization to Combat Zero-Dose Cases

The Bauchi State Government has taken a significant step towards improving immunization coverage by creating a dedicated budget line for routine immunization in 2025. This move aims to address the issue of zero-dose cases in the state.

Dr. Rilwanu Mohammed, Executive Chairman of the Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Board, announced this development while receiving members of the Committee of Practice Premium Hub in Bauchi. He emphasized the need for a budget line to tackle zero-dose situations and strengthen accountability mechanisms for Universal Health Coverage.

The state government has allocated N870 million to the 2025 budget as a basket fund for immunization, which will be fully funded by the state government according to the Memorandum of Understanding.

The Committee of Practice Premium Hub visited the state to advocate for adequate immunization funding in the 2025 financial year. They also called for deploying outreach and mobile teams to underserved communities to combat childhood diseases.

The Bauchi State Network for Civil Society Organisations pledged to continue advocating for prompt releases of budgeted funds and monitoring primary healthcare service implementations. They committed to addressing noncompliance issues in immunization uptake and improving healthcare outcomes in the state.
