ACADMEDS Seeks Improvements For Quality Healthcare Delivery
According to the Academy of Medicine Specialities of Nigeria (ACADMEDS), it is important to bring back confidence in the Nigerian healthcare system.
The Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, disclosed this at the 2022 Annual General Meeting and second induction ceremony of the Academy of Medicine Specialities of Nigeria, which was titled, “Tackling the twin threats of non-communicable and communicable diseases to health care in Nigeria and implementation in the twenty-first-century medical education.”

He said, “Whether we like it or not, we are in competition with the rest of the world, and there are some countries in West Africa that look up to us for experts on health care. We need to look for a way to return confidence in our health care system and what our services can deliver and simple basic housekeeping that makes citizens uphold a high level of trust.”

The keynote speaker, Prof. Oyewale Tomori, who spoke on the theme of the induction ceremony, advised academies, professional bodies, the media, and the young and old to hold Nigerian leaders accountable.
“They must not go unpunished for their self-indulgent arrogance of impunity. This election year, we must interrogate the political parties on their manifestoes political debates.’’
In his opening address, Prof. Oladapo Ashiru, the president of ACADMEDS, explained that the Academy remained a leader in alerting the government on critical health issues.
